Sandra Bullock says she was more than a little anxious about a scene in The Proposal in which her co-star, Ryan Reynolds, slaps her bare behind.

“The 44 year-old Speed star was thrilled her ”jiggling butt” was edited out of new romantic comedy The Proposal.
She was worried about stripping off and having Reynolds slapping her bare behind, but was relieved to discover the unflattering bits wouldn’t be shown.
She said: “I was really worried about my butt jiggling when contact was made. Luckily, the director was a fellow female and knew just how to cut the scene before the ripple effect happened! I am very grateful.”
The sympathetic director is Anne Fletcher. The film, in which a hard-nosed publishing executive falls for her assistant during a visa scam, has just shot to the top of the US box office.
Sandra Bullock has never been spanked in a movie before so this is a first. It would be nice to have the full uncut “pancake effect” version though!

Is it really a GOOD thing that Ms. Bullock’s bare bottom was not visible on screen during that slap?

To each his/her own, but if you are going to make a movie where someone’s butt gets slapped, you should SHOW the audience what is happening. Otherwise there is no thrill, and the movie might just as well play on radio.

Seriously though, from Sandra Bullock’s point of view it IS a good thing because she didn’t want her bottom to look wobbly on screen!
From OUR point of view, I agree that it sounds disappointing although there should be a bit more to see than you would get on the radio – hopefully!
