Some More Vintage Porn

The last time I posted a set of vintage Nu-West pictures someone took me to task for calling them ‘porn’. Some might be more comfortable with terms like ‘professional’ or ‘adult’ but the fact is that previous post is rarely out of the Top Posts list in the sidebar because “vintage p**n” is a very popular search term on Google. So now that JS666 has sent me a collection of his favourite pics from the same producer it would be silly not to do a follow up. Plus, I generally like to call a spade a spade anyway.

JS says:

Nu-West are a California-based publisher and one of the pioneers of modern, realistic material. There is a lot of their stuff out there, but these are my personal favorites. (They did good work.)

The last one calls for some comment. It’s from a video about the Western diplomatic community in an unfriendly Islamic country where women are kept on a short leash. To head off problems, a butch German woman is appointed disciplinarian, to spank erring wives. This one has actually had the nerve to express a political opinion of her own! She makes me think of one of my grade-school teachers, a ravishing young blond who was bright, talented, sophisticated … and facing the usual lack of opportunity for women in those days. (Teacher, secretary, nurse, or stewardess.) Everyone in the class, girls as well as boys, was in love with her, of course, and as a spanko, I have my own take on how such feelings should be expressed.” 😉

If anyone else would like to send in a few favourite pics from yesteryear we can continue this series. (they don’t have to be from Nu-West of course.)

  1. I’ve always had problems with those who describe spanko lit and pics/clips as ‘porn’. That’s just a crude generalisation which is totally inaccurate by definition. Pure spanking needn’t include any sexual activities at all, despite the efforts by some to turn it all into porn.

  2. Hmmm….Valdor, I see where you write that “Some might be more comfortable with terms like ‘professional’ or ‘adult’ but … I generally like to call a spade a spade anyway.”

Yet I notice that this site is described as “an adult only fetish blog” rather than “a spanking porn blog.” Just sayin’…

And Father Jon, one definition of porn is: “the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement.” The intention is as much an element of porn as the depiction. For instance, there are depictions of the nude female in fine art that appeal to what has been called “the male gaze” that certainly fall into a gray area between fine art and porn, or clearly combines elements of both. And it is my understanding that in the United States, Supreme Court legal rulings on pornography have hinged on determining the intention of the creator and/or distributor of the alleged pornographic material, such as if it is intended to be educational, even if that intention is superficial.

And the term “porn” has been applied to violence, so that we have the expression “violence porn.” It sometimes seems that the depiction of violence, especially in visual media such as movies, is intended, at least in part, to incite feelings of pleasure and even excitement in the viewer, or at least fascination. Quite a few people are fascinated by violence at some level, consciously or sub-consciously.

So the intended purpose of depiction is as important as the depiction itself.

  3. Well, Judy, I don’t wish to appear too pedantic here, but ‘porn’ to me nowadays is more associated with sex for sale in pic form or in movies, often in a commercialised form.

You’ll understand my reluctance to recognise spanking as porn from this Wiki link etymology:-

  4. hmm….Etymology

A French caricature on “the great epidemic of pornography.”
The word is similar to the modern Greek πορνογραφία (pornographia), which derives from the Greek words πόρνη (pornē, “prostitute” and πορνεία – pornea, “prostitution”[4]), and γράφειν (graphein, “to write or to record”, derived meaning “illustration”, cf. “graph”), and the suffix -ία (-ia, meaning “state of”, “property of”, or “place of”), thus meaning “a written description or illustration of prostitutes or prostitution”. No date is known for the first use of the word in Greek.
“Pornographie” was in use in the French language during the 1800s. The word did not enter the English language as the familiar conjunction until 1857[5] or as a French import in New Orleans in 1842.[6]y

  5. Well I’m just saying that the word ‘porn’ isn’t banned from this site and on occasions I find it a useful term as do millions of internet users who mostly do not type “vintage adult professional material” into their search engine boxes.

  6. Father Jon, for better or worse, the language we are using here is contemporary English, not ancient Greek, so the English word ‘pornography’ carries all the denotations and connotations that it has acquired through usage, whatever one determines those may be.

    1. Well, as Humpty Dumpty said to Alice, “A word means exactly what I want it to mean, nothing more, nothing less”

When I hear or read the word ‘porn’ I have instant images of penises entering mouths, vaginas, or anuses (in that order, of course). As a spanking purist who does not deny the sexual frisson involved in pure spanking, I dissociate the spanking activity with physical penetration of any type. I approach spanking from the POV of discipline, punishment, CP, maintenance, whatever……..

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with those who need sex after spankings, but a substantial number of us are spanking purists. I guess that other spanking purists will understand my POV without me appearing too pedantic.

  7. I don’t see any contradiction or hypocrisy in the site description. I’m not a professional porn producer myself though I do sometimes use the material of professional spanking porn producers. In most posts, however, I use material from mainstream sources, films, ads, tv shows etc. The Nu-West pictures clearly come under the former category and are not modern – hence the title of this post.
